Nina von Uexkull will hold a lecture on the theme Climate and conflict for Framtidsakademin. The lecture will be in Swedish and open to everyone, both in Uppsala and online.
Climate and conflict
The last decade was the hottest on record and the heatwaves that hit Europe in the summer of 2022 are a reminder of the bleak prospects for a future of accelerating climate change. A question that is gaining increasing attention among policy makers and the public is whether in case climate change will also lead to more wars and instability. Drawing on the last 10 years of research, this lecture will present what we know about these links. We will also discuss alternative scenarios for the future in light of these linkages and geopolitical changes such as the war in Ukraine.
Framtidensakademin organises interdisciplinary lecture series about future-relevant issues in the context of sustainable development. The project is a collaboration between CEMUS, Folkuniversitetet in Uppsala and Stadsbibliotek Uppsala.
